The B-25H/J Mitchell was a variant of the B-25 Mitchell medium bomber used during World War II. The B-25H model was equipped with a 75mm cannon mounted in the nose, which gave it the capability to engage armored targets such as ships and tanks. The B-25J variant, on the other hand, had a redesigned nose with solid glass for better visibility and increased defensive armament.
Both variants were widely used by the United States Army Air Forces and saw action in various theaters of the war. The B-25 Mitchell as a whole was known for its versatility and effectiveness in multiple roles, including low-level strafing attacks, bombing missions, and aerial reconnaissance.
The B-25H/J Mitchell played a significant role in several key operations, such as the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo in 1942 and the Battle of Midway. These aircraft were valued for their ruggedness, maneuverability, and the firepower they brought to the battlefield.
