The NC-121K Connie, also known as the WV-2 or EC-121K, was a variant of the Lockheed Constellation aircraft used by the United States Navy. It served as a long-range airborne early warning (AEW) platform during the Cold War era.
The NC-121K featured a large radome mounted on top of the fuselage, which housed a radar system for detecting and tracking enemy aircraft. This radar allowed the aircraft to provide early warning of potential threats and played a vital role in protecting naval forces and airspace.
The Connie aircraft, including the NC-121K variant, played a significant role in maritime patrol, reconnaissance, and surveillance missions. They were used by the Navy for several decades, primarily from the 1950s to the 1970s.
Is there anything specific you would like to know about the NC-121K Connie aircraft?
